Arturia Pigments 4 Synthwave Soundest
64 tones made during a very cold period in the Alps in January where bunkering down to make some vintage tones during a snow storm was by far the safest option!
This synth can do so much its basic tone is often overlooked. And it’s the raw tone that we rely on for those classic synth wave style tones. Limiting to a couple of oscillators (prophet 5) or just a single oscillator and a sub (Juno) instantly gives that classic flavour.
I’ve not included the worst of the 80s here but tried to put a modern spin on the sounds you’d get from the 80s classics. No oboes, clarinets or flutes, but plenty of nice pads, basses, lofi bits, bells and leads. There’s a little bit of reverb here and there but I’ve tried to keep the FX to a minimum. Play with the filter, increase the filter LFO Mod, add some big reverbs + delays where you like, just like I do with my Juno’s, Prophets and Jupiter.
